360° Savannah-Style Viewpoint : Doi Mae Tho is known for its wide-open landscape — a vast grassland surrounded by mountains. It’s often called “The Thai Savannah” for its sweeping 360° view of hills and sky.

Getting There
Visitors usually park at Mae Tho Village and take a local 4x4 truck or community transport up to the viewpoint.
Some road sections are steep or slippery during rain.
About a 3-hour drive from Chiang Mai city, depending on road conditions.
Facilities & Costs
Local truck service to the 360° viewpoint costs around 1,000 THB (round trip).
Tent rentals with bedding: about 300–700 THB per night.
Basic restrooms and cold-water showers are available — expect rustic conditions.
It’s best to book transportation or contact the local community in advance.
Traveler Impressions
Many describe the sunrise and early-morning fog as breathtaking.
Some experienced rain and wind at night, making tent camping a little challenging.
To reach the top viewpoint, a short but steep hike is required after the vehicle stop.
